Spurgeon's Morning and Evening

"Salvation is of the Lord."-- Jonah ii. 9.

He is both "Alpha and Omega." "Salvation is of the Lord." If I am prayerful, God makes me prayerful; if I have graces, they are God's gifts to me; if I hold on in a consistent life, it is because He upholds me with His hand. I do nothing whatever towards my own preservation, except what God himself first does in me. Whatever I have, all my goodness is of the Lord alone. Wherein I sin, that is my own; but wherein I act rightly, that is of God, wholly and completely. If I have repulsed a spiritual enemy, the Lord's strength nerved my arm. Do I live before men a consecrated life? It is not I, but Christ who liveth in me. Am I sanctified? I did not cleanse myself: God's Holy Spirit sanctifies me... Do I grow in knowledge? The great Instructor teaches me... Am I continually receiving fresh increase of strength? Where do I gather my might? My help cometh from heaven's hills: without Jesus I can do nothing. As a branch cannot bring forth fruit except it abide in the vine, no more can I, except I abide in Him.

- Feb. 26 Morning

"Thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the Most High, thy habitation."--Psalm xci. 9.

The Christian knows no change with regard to God. He may be rich to-day and poor to-morrow he may be distressed-- but there is no change with regard to his relationship to God. If he loved me yesterday, He loves me to-day. My unmoving mansion of rest is my blessed Lord. Let prospects be blighted; let hopes be blasted; let joy be withered; let mildews destroy everything; I have lost nothing of what I have in God. He is "my strong habitation whereunto I can continually resort." I am a pilgrim in the world, but at home in my God. In the earth I wander, but in God I dwell in a quite habitation.

-Feb. 27 Morning

"Whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting." --Micah v. 2

What! has He carried me in His hand, as His precious jewel, and will He now let me slip from between His fingers? Did he choose me before the mountains were brought forth, or the channels of the deep were digged, and will He now reject me? Impossible! I am sure He would not have loved me so long if He had not been a changeless Lover. If he could grow weary of me, He would have been tired of me long before now. If He had not loved me with a love as deep as hell, and as strong as death, He would have turned from me long ago. Oh joy above all joys, to know that I am His everlasting and inalienable inheritance, given to him by his Father or ever the earth was! Everlasting love shall be the pillow for my head this night.

"Take up the cross, and follow Me." - Mark x. 21.

"Beloved, the cross is not made of feathers, or lined with velvet, it is heavy and galling to disobedient shoulders; but it is not an iron cross, though your fears have painted it with iron colours, it is a wooden cross, and a man can carry it, for the Man of Sorrows tried the load. Take up your cross, and by the power of the Spirit of God, you will soon be so in love with it, that like Moses, you would not exchange the reproach of Christ for all the treasures of Egypt. Remember that Jesus carried it, and it will smell sweetly; remember that it will soon be followed by the crown, and the thought of the coming weight of glory will greatly lighten the present heaviness of trouble. The Lord help you to bow your spirit in submission to the divine will ere you fall asleep this night, that waking with to-morrow's sun, you may go forth to the day's cross with the holy and submissive spirit which becomes a follower of the Crucified."

Chocolate Chiffon Valentine Cake

Chocolate Chiffon Valentine Cake

Mine didn't really turn out like the one in the picture but that's all right. It still tasted good.
I made little chocolate leaves to go on it, and that decorated it a little bit. This is was my mom's birthday cake.

Water Experiment

Just boil some water and throw it outside when it is really cold. In this video I think it was something like 0 degrees outside... I think....

buried treasure

Looking for something to work on yesterday I remembered a baby blanket that I had started a looonng time ago. I was surprised to find it...and find it in actually good shape. I have decided I am going to finish it and save it for my babies someday, (if the Lord sees fit to bless me with some.) It's not the most beautiful blanket in the world, but it's cute.

~>These are just a few of the squares. Perhaps I'll have to post about the whole thing sometime.

...tag...

Well, I've been "tagged" by Ana. This should be fairly interesting..........

The rules for this meme are: (1) Link to the person that tagged you. (2) Post the rules on your blog. (3) Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself. (4) Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs. (5) Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.

I'm not going to follow rules 4 and 5. Sorry! I have nobody to tag that has not all ready been tagged. So. Here it goes...

1) I love watching/playing football....particularly the Indianapolis Colts. Go Payton Manning!

2) I love Sweetheart Tarts! My favorite!

3) I love the fog on a fall night when you can't even see down the street. How Rotic! (romantic without the man.) :)

4) I love it in the winter when you go outside and take a deep breath and your nostrils freeze. :)

5) I love swinging on really big swings. The ones where if you swing high enough you can kick the trees. (The closest I can get to flying.)

6) I hate rats, mice, insects...anything that crawls(besides babies)...and most cats.

Is that random or what?

GIANTS WIN THE SUPER BOWL!

I normally wouldn't post about a football game....but... I am SOO happy!!! :)
That's right...the New York Giants won the Super Bowl!! :) They beat the New England Patriots 17-14. WAHOO!! Go Giants! I am generally very partial to the Indianapolis Colts, but since they didn't go the the Super Bowl, I thought I'd cheer for the Giants being that they had to play the Patriots, and I really do not like them. So here are some pictures from the game.

~> He's happy...could ya' tell?

~>Eli Manning... oh happy day!

Ode to a Snowflake

Ode to a Snowflake

William Tozzi

You dance just like a ballerina
in the air, so cold.
At times, you're very shy and timid,
at other times, you're bold.

Dressed up in your crystal costume,
molded in symmetry.
Your design is like no other.
Unique, I must agree.

You play your part so gracefully
without making a sound,
whether you are pirouetting
or blanketing the ground.

You act so very innocent
when you're a solo flake.
Combined with others of your ilk,
all the rules, you break.

At springs first hint, you shed your mask
and end the masquerade.
You quickly run off and forsake
the wonder that you made.

Next winter, you'll appear again,
your charm will mesmerize.
And you'll make me forget that you're
a rain drop in disguise.
