Spring is here. Well, sort of. It's slowly making it's presence known with some beautiful 70 degree days.

There is so much going on here lately. The biggest thing?
I'm getting married.
Crazy, I know!
So, between planning the exciting day in June, moving over an hour away and working at a new job I think I have my hands full.

With the coming of spring it makes me want to get out and take pictures. The winter was so long, it's nice to finally see some green and smell the fresh dirt.

I'm hoping to update more here, but as always, those are always hopes.
I've missed blogging.
So, until the next time I find my way onto here... have a wonderful Spring!! :)
God bless!

The Wall

Have you ever been at that wall
the one that you knew was coming
but you ignored it and chose not to avoid it

The one you hit while trying to be independent
thinking you knew what to do
what to say
how to act

You hit it when you entered difficulty
but you were too stubborn to stop and ask
ask for the help you knew you needed
ask for the grace you knew was vital

It is more than just a wall
it is a barrier
hindering you
keeping you from your desires

You try to climb it
your fingers rubbing raw
the wall is too steep
the blood flows freely

you run to go around
you fall
there is no end

You dig
 your nails break
your knees bleed
the ground is firm

Yet even after all these things
you do not look
do not ask
for the One who Heals

You do not kneel
do not bow
before the One above
who searches the heart

You try to fix your problems
the broken relationships
the harsh words you have spilled
the wounds you have inflicted

Your head spinning with solutions
your heart raw from pain
soul weary from exhaustion
 knees bruised from stumbling

You try to fix them on your own terms
pushing your opinions
pushing your desires
upon the ones you love

Instead of submitting
offering your heart as a sacrifice

To the Healer
your Father, Abba

We hit this wall
when we try to do it apart from Him
try to achieve our dreams
fighting for our desires

We stand firm and harden our hearts
we raise the fist when we should fall
lay our hands open before Him
our hearts raw and exposed

We seek what the world has to offer
 momentary pleasures
seeking to fill the void in our heart
just wanting to feel whole

We plunge into relationships
that distract us temporarily
from loneliness
the product of rebellion

We give of ourselves
in the hopes of fulfilling our desires
hoping if we give just enough
we will feel complete

After giving of ourselves
we find that it was in vain
that we gave what was not ours to give
we are not our own

We had screamed
fought and cried
wanting what was not ours
taking it forcefully

Only to be left empty
scarred and wounded
from the lies we believed
from the worthless pleasure we sought

He ever so gently calls us back
back to His side
back Home
to Him

Sometimes what we need
hurts us the most
tears at our hearts
breaks our bones

Only when we fall

We cry out as David
be not far from me God
do not forsake me
cleanse me from my sin

He will not forsake His own
He breaks us
reveals our ugly flesh
and heals our wounds with His blood

He is faithful
we push and shove
but He pulls
and comforts

God alone can heal our sorrows
can mend the broken relationships
change the impossible
transform the soul

Let us surrender
before we come to this point
before our flesh raises an ugly battle
let us yield to Him

Ask for strength
to get through the trial

On His terms
by the truth of His Word
to the glory of His Name
through the work of His Spirit

He will dissolve that wall
and we will pass
not always with leisure
but with peaceful confidence

When we begin to walk again
and we are reminded of our sin
we become overwhelmed with guilt
shame and sadness
We are pushed to our knees in grief
memories flooding our thoughts
we beg for grace
we scream for mercy

We remember the feelings
pain and emptiness
rejection and vileness
our sin taunting us

We feel unworthy
unclean and unloved
the flesh pushing us from Him
our trust falters

Our mind tricks us and guilt overcomes
 were we truly forgiven
are we cleansed from that sin
did we truly repent

Our flesh raging war within
against the Spirit of Him
who forgives and gives
grace in time of need

Looking up to Him
who brings us through trials
through the valley of shadows
through the dark midnight

To the throne of grace
where we can come boldly
asking for mercy
receiving His everlasting love

Before Him
with a humble
a broken and contrite heart
He will not despise

He Word reassures us
we have been forgiven
we are complete in Him
we are His beloved
Those desires and dreams
we pushed so hard for
will dim
in the light of His glory

Let us fall to our knees
lift our hearts
embrace Him
and rest in everlasting peace

Let us look up
up to His beautiful face
and with all creation proclaim
How Great Thou Art
I was able to post Part 1 of the wedding pictures I took.
I'd love it if you'd pop on over and take a look at them! :)

Vintage Wedding

This past weekend I had the privileged of capturing my friend's wedding pictures. It was a vintage styled wedding, so beautiful! Her wedding dress was her Grandma's. Hopefully I'll get through the 4,512 pictures that I took. For now, you only get one. :)

Deo Cantamus

We have had the privilege for the past year or so to participate in a chorale in the cities which is directed by a friend of ours. It is such a blessing to be able to sing in it! Here are a few videos from the March performance.

Here is the website for the organization.

They are all close to my heart, but Light Everlasting and In Paradisum are my favorites. :)

Favorite Quotes by Corrie ten Boom

“Do you know what hurts so very much? It's love. Love is the strongest force in the world, and when it is blocked that means pain. There are two things we can do when this happens. We can kill that love so that it stops hurting. But then of course part of us dies, too. Or we can ask God to open up another route for that love to travel.”
―  The Hiding Place

“We are up against the unseen power that controls this dark world and the spiritual agents are from the very headquarters of evil. Therefore, we must wear the "whole armour of God," that we may be able to resist evil in its day of power, and that even when we have fought to a standstill, we may still stand our ground.”

“When a train goes through a tunnel and it gets dark, you don’t throw away the ticket and jump off. You sit still and trust the engineer.”

“It is not on our forgiveness any more than on our goodness that the world's healing hinges, but His. When He tells us to love our enemies, He gives, along with the command, the love itself.”

“This is what the past is for! Every experience God gives us, every person He puts in our lives is the perfect preparation for the future that only He can see.”
―  The Hiding Place

“Hold everything in your hands lightly, otherwise it hurts when God pries your fingers open.”

“Worrying is carrying tomorrow's load with today's strength- carrying two days at once. It is moving into tomorrow ahead of time. Worrying doesn't empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength.”

“Life is but a Weaving” (the Tapestry Poem)

“My life is but a weaving
Between my God and me.
I cannot choose the colors
He weaveth steadily.

Oft’ times He weaveth sorrow;
And I in foolish pride
Forget He sees the upper
And I the underside.

Not ’til the loom is silent
And the shuttles cease to fly
Will God unroll the canvas
And reveal the reason why.

The dark threads are as needful
In the weaver’s skillful hand
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern He has planned

He knows, He loves, He cares;
Nothing this truth can dim.
He gives the very best to those
Who leave the choice to Him.”

Corrie ten Boom, The Hiding Place

“...suddenly I was afraid of what Father would say. Afraid he would say, "There'll be someone else soon," and that forever afterward this untruth would lie between us. For in some deep part of me I knew already that there would not--soon or ever--be anyone else.

The sweet cigar-smell came into the room with Father. And of course he did not say the false, idle words.

"Corrie," he began instead, "do you know what hurts so very much? It's love. Love is the strongest force in the world, and when it is blocked that means pain.

"There are two things we can do when this happens. We can kill the love so that it stops hurting. But then of course part of us dies, too. Or, Corrie, we can ask God to open up another route for that love to travel.

"God loves Karel--even more than you do--and if you ask Him, He will give you His love for this man, a love nothing can prevent, nothing destroy. Whenever we cannot love in the old, human way, Corrie, God can give us his perfect way."

I did not know, as I listened to Father's footsteps winding back down the stairs, that he had given me more than the key to this hard moment. I did not know that he had put into my hands the secret that would open far darker rooms than this--places where there was not, on a human level, anything to love at all."
