buried treasure

Looking for something to work on yesterday I remembered a baby blanket that I had started a looonng time ago. I was surprised to find it...and find it in actually good shape. I have decided I am going to finish it and save it for my babies someday, (if the Lord sees fit to bless me with some.) It's not the most beautiful blanket in the world, but it's cute.

~>These are just a few of the squares. Perhaps I'll have to post about the whole thing sometime.

...tag...

Well, I've been "tagged" by Ana. This should be fairly interesting..........

The rules for this meme are: (1) Link to the person that tagged you. (2) Post the rules on your blog. (3) Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself. (4) Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs. (5) Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.

I'm not going to follow rules 4 and 5. Sorry! I have nobody to tag that has not all ready been tagged. So. Here it goes...

1) I love watching/playing football....particularly the Indianapolis Colts. Go Payton Manning!

2) I love Sweetheart Tarts! My favorite!

3) I love the fog on a fall night when you can't even see down the street. How Rotic! (romantic without the man.) :)

4) I love it in the winter when you go outside and take a deep breath and your nostrils freeze. :)

5) I love swinging on really big swings. The ones where if you swing high enough you can kick the trees. (The closest I can get to flying.)

6) I hate rats, mice, insects...anything that crawls(besides babies)...and most cats.

Is that random or what?

GIANTS WIN THE SUPER BOWL!

I normally wouldn't post about a football game....but... I am SOO happy!!! :)
That's right...the New York Giants won the Super Bowl!! :) They beat the New England Patriots 17-14. WAHOO!! Go Giants! I am generally very partial to the Indianapolis Colts, but since they didn't go the the Super Bowl, I thought I'd cheer for the Giants being that they had to play the Patriots, and I really do not like them. So here are some pictures from the game.

~> He's happy...could ya' tell?

~>Eli Manning... oh happy day!

Ode to a Snowflake

Ode to a Snowflake

William Tozzi

You dance just like a ballerina
in the air, so cold.
At times, you're very shy and timid,
at other times, you're bold.

Dressed up in your crystal costume,
molded in symmetry.
Your design is like no other.
Unique, I must agree.

You play your part so gracefully
without making a sound,
whether you are pirouetting
or blanketing the ground.

You act so very innocent
when you're a solo flake.
Combined with others of your ilk,
all the rules, you break.

At springs first hint, you shed your mask
and end the masquerade.
You quickly run off and forsake
the wonder that you made.

Next winter, you'll appear again,
your charm will mesmerize.
And you'll make me forget that you're
a rain drop in disguise.

I used different yarn then what they called for...but I think it turned out all right. :)

"Perfect in Christ Jesus." - Colossians i. 28.

Do you not feel in your own soul that perfection is not in you? Does not every day teach you that? Every tear which trickles from your eye, weeps "imperfection;" every sigh which bursts from your heart, cries "imperfection;" every harsh word which proceeds from your lip, mutters "imperfection." You have too frequently had a view of your own heart to dream for a moment of any perfection in yourself. But amidst this sad consciousness of imperfection, here is comfort for you - you are "perfect in Christ Jesus." In God's sight, you are "complete in Him;" even now you are "accepted in the beloved." But there is a second perfection, yet to be realised, which is sure to all the seed. Is it not delightful to look forward to the time when every stain of sin shall be removed from the believer, and he shall be presented faultless before the throne, without spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing?
Then shall we know, and taste, and feel the happiness of this vast but short sentence, "Complete in Christ." Not till then shall we fully comprehend the heights and depths of the salvation of Jesus. Doth not thy heart leap for joy at the thought of it? Black as thou art, thou shalt be white one day; filthy as thou art, thou shalt be clean. Oh, it is a marvellous salvation this! Christ takes a worm and transforms it into an angel; Christ takes a black and deformed thing and makes it clean and matchless in His glory, peerless in His beauty and fit to be the companion of seraphs. O my soul, stand and admire this blessed truth of perfection in Christ.

-C.H. Spurgeon, Morning and Evening, Jan. 28

Here is my trying-to-use-up-the-material-that-is-taking-up-space-in-my-closet......blanket. It's the not the prettiest thing in the world...but it's warm! Thanks to our second-hand store I was able to buy a queen sized sheet to go on the back. So it's like being under a sheet with lots of blankets on top. COZY!!

A Day with the Beavers

Just as the frying pan was nicely hissing Peter and Mr. Beaver came in with the fish which Mr. Beaver had already opened with his knife and cleaned out in the open air. You can think how good the new-caught fish smelled while they were frying and how the hungry children longed for them to be done and how very much hungrier still they had become before Mrs Beaver said, "Now we're nearly ready." Susan drained the potatoes and then put them all back in the empty pot to dry on the side of the range while Lucy was helping Mrs. Beaver to dish up the trout, so that in a very few minutes everyone was drawing up stools (it was all three-legged stools in the Beaver's house except for Mrs. Beaver's own special rocking chair beside the fire) and preparing to enjoy themselves. There was a jug of creamy milk for the children (Mr. Beaver stuck to beer) and a great big lump of deep yellow butter in the middle of the table from which everyone took as much as he wanted to go with his potatoes and all the children thought- and I agree with them- that there's nothing to beat good freshwater fish if you eat it when it has been alive half an hour ago and has come out of the pan half a minute ago. And when they had finished the fish Mrs. Beaver brought unexpectedly out of the oven a great and glorious sticky marmalade roll, steaming hot, and at the same time moved the kettle on to the fire, so that when they had finished the marmalade roll the tea was made and ready to be poured out. And when each person had got his (or her) cup of tea, each person shoved back his (or her) stool so as to be able to lean against the wall and gave a long sigh of contentment.
